| The
Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children at Parel Bombay was
established in 1929.
The Hospital has established itself as one of the foremost
Institutions of its kind not only in India but also in Asia,
exclusively devoted to Pediatrics. The Hospital has made a
great contribution to the health of children, not only of
Bombay but also of the whole of Maharastra as well as India.
In addition to 7,000 In-patients treated annually, over 20,000
children receive medical treatment and facilities in its Out-patient
Department. The Hospital has been recognised by the W.H.O.
under its Pediatric Project, and is recognised as a teaching
institution by the University of Bombay for under-graduate
and postgraduate studies, in pediatrics.
The
Hospital has Medical, Surgical, Orthopedic and Plastic Surgery
Wards, as well as Departments of Physiotherapy, Occupational
Therapy, Social and Child Guidance, a Research Unit with a
Skin Bank, a Medical Photographic Department and a Dialysis
Unit. A Neonates Ward and Audiology Department, Speech Therapy
have recently been added.
