The
DMT Division of Bombay Dyeing & Mfg. Co. Ltd. is the largest
manufacturer of Dimethyl Terephthalate (DMT) in India with present
capacity of 165000 TPA DMT is a raw material for the manufacturer
of Polyester fibre, film, filament & yarn and engineering plastics.
DMT Division commenced commercial production in 1986 with a 60,000
TPA capacity plant that was relocated from Burlington, New Jersey,
USA. This plant was purchased and refurbished along with proven
Hercules-Witten technology from Hercofina, USA.
Due to a spurt in demand for DMT during the past decade from polyester
manufacturer in the country, Bombay Dyeing increased the capacity
from 60,000 TPA to 1,65,000 TPA during 1993-1996.
The DMT Division embarked on Total Quality Management (TQM) in 1994
and has received.
ISO-9002-1994, Certification for "Quality Management System"
in September, 1998.
ISO-14001-1996, Certification for "Environmental Management
System" in March, 2000.
OHSAS-18001-1999, and BVQI's "SAFETYCERT" Certification
for "Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS)
in March, 2001.

DMT Division is the earliest signatory to "Responsible Care
initiatives of the International Council of Chemical Association.
The DMT Business of Bombay Dyeing primarily caters to the domestic
market with some exports to the far east.
E-COMMERCE
DMT division has well established SNMP (Simple Network Management
Protocol) manageable Ethernet network system. Various commercial
functions like purchase, inventory, works contract, financial accounting
and sales are operated through this network. Ethernet Network with
Netwrae Version 4.10 is dedicated for the weighbridge operation
of raw material receipt and DMT dispatch.
