The Hospital was established in 1926.

The Hospital is the oldest Institution in India devoted exclusively to Obstetrics & Gynecology and has played an important part in improving the health of the women in our country. Advanced facilities for the post-graduate training and research are available. The Hospital has been accorded recognition for post-graduate teaching by the University of Bombay.

The Hospital has various ancillary services and departments, viz. Post Partum and Sterilization Wards, Medical Termination of Pregnancy Department, Social Welfare Department, Foetal monitor Department, Family Welfare Center, Premature Baby Unit, Infertility Clinic, Ultrasonography Department and Colour Doppler. The Hospital is recognised both by Govt. of India and Govt. of Maharastra, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, for Laproscopy Training. The Govt. of India also deputes Professors in Obstetrics & Gynecology from various Medical Colleges all over India for such training at our Hospital.
